Features
Hemp is the ultimate seasonal yarn, cool in the summer and warm in the winter! Hemp is the longest and strongest natural fiber! This means longer garment life as opposed to other plants' shorter fibers like cotton. Haven't we all sulked over a hand knit masterpiece turned looking well past it's prime?

Say goodbye to that growing stack of hand washing, shrunken or stretched out knitwear or just gone plain pilly sweaters. Our hemp yarns can be thrown in the washer and drier without fibre degradation and it only gets softer the more you wash it! For those of us with skin sensitives. Hemp naturally repels up to 90% of UV rays and is grown without use of pesticides or herbicides.

TIPS: The more hemp is put through the washing machine and drier the softer and softer it will become,yet it will not shrink, stretch, fade or pill! If you find hemp a little stiff, try allhemp6LUX, or our hemp blends or soak the 100% hemp in hot water and hair conditioner...air dry and wind into a ball and knit away!

Knitting with hemp has similarities to knitting with other cellulose or bast fibers like linen. Because hemp has no natural elasticity Lanaknits Designs' patterns are created exclusively with hemp yarns so that each pattern brings out the best of the hemp yarns. Most of our designs are blocked after knitting resulting in knitting that is more like a piece of luscious fabric leaving your finish project draping beautifully with outstanding sheen and ultimate softness.
