Description                       Ashford Accelerated Charka An upright model with rubber feet, convenient for tabletop spinning. The 9" wheel that can be assembled for either left or right hand cranking. 2 ratios- 16:1 by driving the spindle directly or 80:1 via the countershaft accelerating the spindle. The wheel, countershaft & spindle all run on ball bearings for very smooth action. The  spindle is tapered from 5/32" stainless steel.  The drive belt is 2mm polycord The tension is adjustable by means of a slot in the spindle base.   Related Products... Compact Wheel is Very Versatile October 12, 2007 Reviewer: Carolyn Hillis from BRUNSWICK, GA United States   The Ashford Accelerated Charka is well made and has 2 ratios.  The higher ratio is ideal for spinning cotton, cashmere, camel down and other short fibers.  The lower ratio works well for wool and functions as a "mini" great wheel.  The only disadvantage is that the secondary drive band is a rubber band, which has to be replaced fairly often.  The spindle is a good size and holds a large amount of spun singles and can also be used as a bobbin winder.  Set up is very easy.
