Ashorford Top Whorl Spindle |

While I feel that this spindle is a bit heavy (at 3 ounces) for a beginner (they would be looking to purchase something a bit lighter once they really got going with their spinning).....it is a wonderful spindle for spinning up heavier weight yarns on, as well as, for plying. The longer shaft allows it to hold more yarn. The notches keep your yarn from slipping. The larger whorl gives it that little bit more of spin that is needed for plying. It is the perfect companion spindle for the small Ashford Top Whorl Spindle.

I've spun on so many of these and they're great, especially for beginners. They spin well, the notches are well placed and deep enough to hold and the spindle holds a lot of yarn. Great for teaching as well.
