Over the past twenty years, Earthues has supported the dyer's are by working in partnership with artisans to encourage revival and innovation. We develope natural dye receipes, document traditional techniques of textile arts and support market for hand-dyed cloth. Natural dyes are a link to human history. While tending a simmering dye pot, remember that this tradition links you to people in remote locations all over the world. You are supporting farmers who grow indigo leaves, raise cochineal, and harvest madder root as well as the artisans who continue to create their traditional crafts.
Colors from natural materials are comfortable and sensuous; they have a patina and living aura. Depending on the material used, the color range moves from soft to quite brilliant. An unexpected aspect of using natural dyes is that the plants imbue the textile with a distinctive aromatic sensation.
