Description   This shawl was inspired by my friend Karen Aho's passion for color, which she insists stems from a day she spent with Gypsies during her childhood in Finland. Simple lace patterns are used on this garter stitch square to encourage experimentation with color. Design by Evelyn A. Clark Blocked Size: Approximately 36" (91cm) square. Yarn Requirements: Lace weight yarn in the following amounts: Color A (center) 470 yds (430m), Color B (2 narrow bands) 315 yds (288m), Color C (wide band) 394 yds (360m). Requirements will vary if using a different yarn weight. Needles: US size 5 (3.75mm) 24" (60cm), or longer circular needle. You will also need a spare, smaller size circular needle. If using a different weight of yarn, adjust your needle size to obtain a loose, attractive lace fabric.
