Description   Design by Bev Galeskas Pattern updated for use with Naturally Alpine, the best white wool we have ever found for felting. Of course, if a white hat is not your style, this pattern works equally well in any color of this 14 ply New Zealand wool. Sizes: Small (child) & Large (adult). The small size is designed for a child's head size of up to 20ﾽ" (52 cm). The large size will fit adult head sizes from 21" to 24" (53 to 61 cm). Please note that your yarn choice, the amount of felting and how the finished hat is blocked will determine the exact size of your hat. Yarn Requirements: Approximately 200 (230) yards (183 (210) meters) of bulky (14 ply) wool that will felt easily to a firm fabric. Naturally's Alpine 14 ply or Natural Wool 14 ply are recommended. Caution: Many white and natural colored wools do not felt well, if at all. If using a yarn other than those suggested, it is very important to test felt a sample to be sure that your yarn felts well and that you are happy with the resulting fabric. Needles: A 24" (60 cm) circular needle and a set of double pointed needles both in US size 11 (8.0 mm). Gauge: Before felting, about 12 stitches = 4" (10 cm).
