Kromski Rigid Heddle Looms

The Kromskis of Wolsztyn, Poland, have been wood turners and wheel workers for three generations. In 2000 the Kromski began a new facet of their business - exporting their products to the rest of the world. In 2002 the Kromskis added an innovative rigid heddle loom.

The Kromski Harp (in Use)

What can you do on a Kromski Harp, a rigid heddle loom? Here is a display of work done by students of Linda LaBelle of Brooklyn, NY. These weavings were completed by 10 beginning weavers and two intermediate weavers and were displayed at a show at Habu Textiles in New York City. The show took place in August, 2003.

The following pieces were woven on the Kromski Harp Rigid Heddle Loom using Plain Weave combined with Leno, Brooks Bouquet, Discontinuous Weft, and or Tapestry Techniques. Two of the students dyed their warp yarns with Kool-Aid and another dyed her scarf with Earthues Natural Dyes. A wide variety of fibers were used in both the warps and wefts!

Web page note: you will note a difference in color between the full pictures and any close-ups. This is due to lighting in the gallery and photographic issues.
