easy, lovely spinning! If I had only one type of wool I could ever spin again, I would choose Blue-Faced Leicester (BFL).
This wool is next-to-skin soft, yet the staple is long enough to allow for very easy worsted spinning. It makes perfect sock yarn; strong and smooth, yet so soft and comfortable. Because it can be spun with a fair amount of twist, it also wears very well.
I have also spun it woolen from rolags very easily, and semi-worsted from batts. BFL seems to accomodate itself to all fiber preparations. Most wools do best with only one type of fiber prep and spinning method over another.
BFL is renowned in the Fiber World for it's beautiful sheen, whether left natural or dyed. When dyed, it takes color wonderfully well, with the resulting colors having a luxurious 'glow' because of the inherent shine in the wool itself.
I hope every spinner can treat themselves at some point with this lovely fiber and see for themselves how rewarding it is to spin up!
