A bit coarse but satisfactory |

I agree with the other reviewer who said this fiber was rough. I think the color is lovely and the spun wool is attractive and rustic to look at. But it is too coarse to wear next to the skin. I found it easy to spin and the yarn made a nice felted bag. In contrast to the other reviewer, I didn't find that much VM present. But it's definitely a coarse wool. (Note: this should be expected from the description which gives an accurate micron count).

Nice Fiber, Easy to Spin! |

The photo doesn't show the true color of this wool. This is an almost-black wool with a few tiny white fibers. It is somewhat coarse and will make good, hard-wearing knitted garments. I am a beginning spinner - I have tried six different kinds of fiber so far and this has been the easiest to spin to a small, consistent diameter. I'm glad I bought two pounds!
TWO WEEKS LATER - I have spun 2000 yards of this fiber. I still like it but want to add that it has a lot of vegetable matter so I am downgrading my rating to a four star. It is ROUGH and RUGGED! If that's the look and feel you want, you'll be happy. I have sprayed it with a bit of spinning oil to help spin - it was kind of hard on my fingers - 1 part Alpha Keri bath oil, 4 parts water, in an old hairspray spritzer bottle.
