Louet's newest wheel Julia is said to be the 'mom' to Victoria. The Julia's bobbins, flyer, and scotch tension are all the same as on the Victoria. There are four ratios 1:6, 1:8.5, 1:12.5, 1:19. An optional high speed set, which is also the same set as the Victoria
uses, provides an extra 27:1 ratio and make it easier to treadle the
19:1 on the Julia. A removable insert provides two orifice sizes (12mm and 8mm). All
rotating parts run on ball bearings for smooth operation, while the
unit itself is constructed out of beech and birch plywood, smoothly
lacquered.
The optional stand-alone Lazy Kate comes with an adjustable brake for the three bobbins it holds.
As
an introductory special, the Julia is being delivered with a FREE
stand-alone Lazy Kate, and 1 additional bobbin (for a total of four). While supplies last!
Wheels are made of laminated hardwood with a "birch" exterior finish.

Louet Victoria High Speed Flyer
The Louet High Speed Flyer uses either the hook or eye. Yarn can be spun on the flyer very evenly by first sliding the eye/hook forward on the flyer. Do this frequently as you spin, so that no ridges build up. This is especially important with fine yarn. The Louet High Speed flyer has a similar action to the Wooly-Winder, but unlike the Wooly-Winder (which is automatic) this high speed flyer
allows the spinner to hand control the hook/eye, and does not jerk the yarn.

For our Schacht spinning wheels we offer a wide spectrum of whorls to aid the handspinner in achieving the best spinning speed for the task at hand. A high speed bobbin is required for high speed and super high speed whorls when spinning in double drive. (High speed bobbins are not required for Scotch tension mode.)
What Whorl do I choose?
It depends...on your treadling rate, the fiber you're spinning, and the type of yarn you want. There are no hard and fast rules about whorls. What is important is that you choose a whorl that helps your wheel do as much of the work for you as possible. In general: the bigger the whorl, the coarser the fiber, the thicker the yarn; the smaller the whorl, the finer the fiber, the smaller the yarn.
