Wrong Color, Poor Texture |

I purchased the Evergreen colorway for a color based project. The color is NAMED Evergreen. It LOOKED pine green on the three monitors (mine, my friend's, my busband's). Upon arrival, though, the yarn was a medium olive, not the lovely dark pine pictured. There is NO concievable way that was due to monitor differences, so I called to ask if there had been a mix-up. No, there had not been a mistake; the site acknowledged that the color photo was off. Okay, fine.
The texture was far from desirable, too, or I'd have just kept it for different patterns. At the price, which is more than I pay for Madelinetosh sock and the same as Malabrigo, I'd expect a comparable product. It's not even close. This stuff has none of the silky texture you'd expect from bamboo. It's also scratchy. It probably wears like iron, but it feels like a cheap yarn.

Surprisingly Wonderful Socks |

I made a pair of boot socks for my Father In Law from this yarn. It knitted up like a dream. It looked and felt slightly silky after the socks were finished. He has had surgeries on his feet that makes them much more sensitive, but these are wonderful too him because they don't irritate the condition. He wears them immediately after they have been washed and dried. I used Size 1 needles and it made a nice firm fabric that looked more like trouser socks verses boot socks. I intend on buying and using this yarn again.
