Description   This yarn is created locally for us by our friend Kathleen Cullen and her oh so soft Baby Suri Alpacas. This yarn is processed mildly and doesn't go through an acid bath like most other yarns and leaves it with more natural softness. Natural Yarn purists will love this yarn and it will dye wonderfully as it's chemically untreated. Made up of 90% Baby Suri Alpaca and 10% Superfine 15 micron Merino Wool makes this yarn perfect for hats and other garments where you need some memory. NOTE FROM TRAVIS AT THE SHOP: This yarn has some 10% Merino Wool so it will hold it's shape nicely. My hat Sara made me with a different yarn (Misti Alpaca 100% Alpaca) is very soft and I love it...but...it kind of flopped out after about a week as Alpaca by itself needs some merino wool for memory. This yarn does the trick and won't flop out like 100% Alpaca rest assured. The Merino Wool that is in this yarn is superfine certified and absolutely magnificent at 15-16 micron! All the alpaca fiber has been independently tested by Yocom-McColl Labratories in Colorado. The alpaca fiber in this yarn ranges from 16 to 19 micron! It doesn’t get any softer! After many years of selective breeding these Merino are the finest micron Merinos in the United States, they range from 14-16 microns, (as fine as spider webbing)    These are called Ultrafine. Merinos also come in a coarser wool, so beware: Not all Merinos are created equal! These Merinos have been bred only  to Merinos in the Ultrafine range (14.0 to 17.70 microns). Dreaming of a scarf.. November 28, 2009 Reviewer: Megan from Temple, TX United States   I received some of this as a gift very recently, and immediately upon arrival I loved the texture of the alpaca fibers. It's soft like you cannot imagine. This is the type of fiber you'd want to wear for a hat or scarf. It's not itchy in the least. I dyed mine up, and it is positively stunning!
