The Schacht Spinning Wheel offers double drive, Scotch tension, and bobbin lead modes of operation. Wheels come with two flyer whorls; five other flyer whorls offer spinning ratios from 4:1 to 27.5:1The 19 1/2" drive wheel and flyer shaft are supported by self-aligning bronze bearings for precise action. Each flyer is individually balanced and the bobbins and flyer whorls are trued on center for long and superior service.
Also included with each Schacht Spinning Wheel are: its own adjustable carrying strap, two drive bands, a threading hook, a lazy Kate, and four bobbins. If you are looking for the Spinning Wheel equivalent of a Cadillac you're in the market for a Schacht. Matchless, that is.
Hello fellow spinners! Rachel here the resident fiber fanatic here in paradise. Here's my two cents about the Schacht Matchless Spinning Wheel. I'm simply smitten with this wheel One of my favorite features (prepare things could get technical) is the front hinge with the bearing in it. It swivels around so there is no friction on the flyer whatsoever and it makes it easy to remove and replace bobbins. In fact the men in the shop (including my dad the engineer) were impressed with the design...
This wheel also has nice large bobbins that are great for spinning fine to slubby and beyond. They aren't as huge as say a lendrum jumbo bobbin but these are regular bobbins that just happen to be large. They work great with the wheel and the wheel does have lace bobbins available for those fine spinners who just get stuck on lace and never want to go back. I'm in this category unfortunately because I'm always pressed for time and thicker yarn spins and knits faster. Oh well can't have everything I guess. Well with this wheel you get about as close to everything as you can get. It is still portable no its not the most portable wheel on the market but it is reasonable to take to meetings and the design sacrifices nothing for its portability. It is apparent that Schacht was focused on making a precision wheel here and if you can afford this wheel buy it you won't be sorry.
